Pilates group Mat class
A great workout focusing on the fundamentals of Pilates working on core strength and precise movements. Class duration is 55min.
Pilates exercises develop a strong "core," or center of the body. The core consists of the deep abdominal muscles along with the muscles closest to the spine. Control of the core is achieved by integrating the trunk, pelvis and shoulder girdle. Pilates elongates and strengthens, improving muscle elasticity and joint mobility. A body with balanced strength and flexibility is less likely to be injured. Pilates exercises train several muscle groups at once in smooth, continuous movements. By developing proper technique, you can actually re-train your body to move in safer, more efficient patterns of motion - invaluable for injury recovery, sports performance, good posture and optimal health. It's gentle, yet challenging.
Our Pilates teacher Carla has been working in the mind/ body arts for over two decades. Initially involved with internal martial arts such as Tai Chi, Chi Gong and Wing Chun, she fell in love with Pilates after her orthopedic doctor recommended it after a necessary hip surgery. She has taken her training with BASI International in the Washington DC area and continues to share her passion for Pilates here in Norway.
